New Building Update

BUILDING UPDATE - March 11, 2022

This week the City of Coquitlam made a big announcement about the operation of the new Place Maillardville Community Centre, planned to open this Fall. A decision has been made that the new facility will be CITY-OPERATED, which means our society, Société Place Maillardville Society will no longer be moving into the new facility as previously planned. The old Place Maillardville Community Centre will be removed in the Fall once the new facility is operational. Our organization has been offering programs and services in the Maillardville community for over 20 years and our dedicated Board of Directors are busy working with our Executive Director and staff to explore ways to continue to do so for the Fall and beyond. In the meantime, please note that our current offerings will be moving ahead as usual with sold out Spring Camps just around the corner. Our late Spring and Summer programming will continue as well, and we look forward to your continued support with these programs and events. In the coming months we will share with you more detailed plans about our society’s future and how you can be involved. If you have any questions about this new transition, please contact our Executive Director: gpederson@placemaillardville.ca
How it began:
At the April 16, 2018 City of Coquitlam Council Meeting, Council approved a city staff report to proceed with building a replacement facility for Place Maillardville Community Centre. As of March 7th, 2022, the City of Coquitlam made the announcement that the new facility will be CITY-OPERATED.
